Oakland Leaf’s flagship after-school program at ASCEND has grown significantly since last year and brought in a passionate director, Laila Jenkins-Perez. Our program serves 200 ASCEND students daily, providing a full spectrum of arts enrichment and targeted academic interventions. A team of academic mentors and specialists provide unprecedented academic enrichment. Enrichment opportunities include: visual arts, athletics, ecology, photography, women’s empowerment, percussion, Boys2Men youth leadership, and K-1 creative play. The Family Resource Center continues to identify the needs of ASCEND’s families and provide quality solutions. It is an honor to continue serving the ASCEND community with these dynamic programs. The ASCEND Sunset Warriors

Initial Outcomes and Results
Youth customers were asked questions for youth developmental assets and questions related to targeted skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviors (determined by grantee). For each of these variables a quantitative score was given. The score is the percent of targeted changes missed. The score could range from -100% (worse) to 0% (same) to +100% (for better). Indicated below is the percentage of youth surveyed that indicated they changed for the better because of the services provided by the grantee.
