Frederick Douglass Mesa came to the Leaf community to teach ‘Basketball & Social Justice’ at the 2006 Peace Camp, and is coming on board year-round as the Urban Promise Academy After-School Program Director. Freddie previously led the Bahia Vista Elementary After School Program in San Rafael for four years, using his passion for social change, high expectations, and youth empowerment to help build a strong community of students, families and teachers.
